So my Skid plate got destroyed like last year? And I'm just woundering if you need to have them on the car? I plan on getting a new one either way and the skid plate I'm talking about is the one that protects the front underneath the car.

Skid plates are metal. I'm guessing your talking about the splash guard which is to keep road debris off the motor.
I ran without one on my last NB with no problems except for a dirty motor.

I think it's the plastic splash guard you're talking about. If you still have it maybe you can jb weld it back together. Unless you are getting ready to sell the car I would rather pay $3-4 bucks than $50-60 for a piece of plastic.

Junkyard part is a possibility if there is a yard close to you that has several New Beetles.
