I had the Hedrix bootleg - stolen. I still have an old Zappa SODD double disk bootleg, tho...

A song for me?
Here's one of several: Coat From The Cold by Guy Clark:

I found comfort and courage from bottles of whiskey.
I swear to you friends these old high times sure seem risky.
I have backed away gently from those who tried to burn me.
and blocked up my ears that no one should learn me.

But the lady beside me is the one I have chosen
to walk through life with me, like a coat from the cold

I have flown like a bird from every cage that confined me
and broken every one of the ties that bind me
I have danced me around some sad ol' sad ol situations
and taken my share of those sweet invitations

But the lady beside me is the one I have chosen
to walk through life with me - like a coat from the cold

Or maybe - "The Cape", same artist

Eight years old with flour sack cape tied all around his neck
He climbed up on the garage, figurin’ what the heck
He screwed his courage up so tight the whole thing come unwound
He got a runnin’ start and bless his heart he headed for the ground

He’s one of those who knows that life is just a leap of faith
Spread your arms and hold you breath and always trust your cape

All grown up with a flour sack cape tied all around his dream
He’s full of piss and vinegar, he's bustin’ at the seams
He licked his finger and checked the wind, it’s gonna be do or die
He wasn’t scared of nothin’, Boys, he was pretty sure he could fly

He’s one of those who knows that life is just a leap of faith
Spread your arms and hold you breath and always trust your cape

Old and grey with a flour sack cape tied all around his head
He’s still jumpin’ off the garage and will be till he’s dead
All these years the people said he’s actin’ like a kid
He did not know he could not fly - and so he did!

He’s one of those who knows that life is just a leap of faith
Spread your arms and hold you breath and always trust your cape

My first choice...

Veteran Of The Psychic Wars
by Blue Öyster Cult
album: Fire Of Unknown Origin (1981)

You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars
I’ve been living on the edge so long
Where the winds of limbo roar
And I’m young enough to look at
And far too old to see
All the scars are on the inside
I’m not sure that there’s anything left to me

Don’t let these shakes go on
It’s time we had a break from it
It’s time we had some leave
We’ve been living in the flames
We’ve been eating up our brains
Oh please don’t let these shakes go on

You ask me why I’m weary, why I can’t speak to you
You blame me for my silence say It’s time I changed and grew
But the war’s still going on, dear, and there’s no end that I know
And I can’t say if we’re ever...
I can’t say if were ever gonna be free

Don’t let these shakes go on
It’s time we had a break from it
It’s time we had some leave
We’ve been living in the flames
We’ve been eating out our brains
Oh please don’t let these shakes go on

You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars
My energy’s spent at last
And my armor is destroyed
I have used up all my weapons and I’m helpless and bereaved
Wounds are all I’m made of
Did I hear you say that this is victory?

Don’t let these shakes go on
It’s time we had a break from it
Send me to the rear
Where the tides of madness swell
And been sliding into hell
Oh please don’t let these shakes go on
Don’t let these shakes go on
Don’t let these shakes go on

I have two favorites that never fail to bring a smile to my face. Both are from the early 1960s and have an automotive theme. The first is: The Little Nash Rambler (BEEP=BEEP) by The Playmates; and the second is Me and My SS396 by Paul Revere and His Raiders.

Both of these titles were on CDs in my Cadillac's CD changer during my 3,500 mile tour of the Western US last month. The Cadillac was the vehicle of choice since it had to be able to tow my Airstream.
