Howdy, Beetle Friends. Here's the skinny: I have an '06 Beetle (hardtop) with aftermarket Pioneer head unit (DEH-X6500BT) and Pioneer three-ways in both the door positions and backseat positions (Can't find/remember Model #'s). Sounded great for a long time. Monsoon amp finally died and I want to throw in an aftermarket amp. I'm no basshead, but I may want to toss in a sub in the future for some bottom. Anyway, I'm getting 4 different installers who all tell me 4 different things about how "massive a job this is going to be" - "You need an 8 channel amp to run the audio correctly, This could take a week, The extra parts needed are going to cost my first born," all this sort of stuff. I already purchased a nice Pioneer 4 channel and now I'm all turned around by the avalanche of opinions and differing info. QUESTION: Can someone tell me exactly what the specs are that I need to fulfill when purchasing an aftermarket amp for an '06 Beetle with 10 speaker Monsoon configuration? I thank you kindly in advance!

IIRC, it's not really a plug and play job, which is why the installers told you that. Really, you can do whatever amp your heart desires, but you're going to have to run your own wires. You can't really use the factory ones. I was hoping I'd have a better answer for you, but I haven't done car audio in a while and I'm having a hard time getting my brain going this morning. :)

Randi,
Thanks for this. I'm still trying to sort out whether or not I have the right amp. I want it to be at least equal to the current (and now totally dead) Monsoon amp in power and performance. I'll keep snooping for advice.
