Hi Water Beetle Fans!

I wanted to get this thread started because I know the interest in this no-so-new and undiscovered treasure of a GTG can be well represented our region.

There is about a 20% chance that Nurse Diesel and I possibly will be in Dallas for a conference the week prior to Talimena this year. If we are, we will be rolling in with the DFW folks. We would of course head back with the SE group.

For the 80% chance that we will be coming from Jacksonville Florida we would be happy to organize and lead the parade. We would probably leave on Thursday and plan on stopping somewhere for the night. Getting an early Start Friday morning and rolling in heavy with our carabugvan on Friday.

Of course we would expect and love to have people join us on the way in. A BIG New Beetle convoy is impressive to witness running down the highway!

Anyone else up for a road trip to one of the newest and most exciting New Beetle Rallies in the country?

Talimena Scenic Drive

Hi Tai,

We just got the confirmation that we will be attending a Magnet Nursing Conference in Dallas the week before the Talimena event. We will be in Dallas until Thursday and then will be driving from Dallas to the event.

This means we won't be in the carabugvan from Florida this year.

Do not despair. There are others that are planning on going to Talimena from the SE. I know of one couple who is very serious about going and they are in Orlando. Plus there could be others as the SE group travels very well.

You will meet them at TOD and at the Sonic Adventure. Plus who knows? Al maybe ready to take Cup on a long shakedown cruise prior to next years Roswell GTG.

Can't wait to meet you before TOD. We will see you at the Sonic.

Counting Down

156 day Bump coming at you.

We are getting more and more excited for this GTG. After the great time we had at TOD this year we are looking forward to seeing some of our friends again.

I am now in full Talimena mode and will be talking this GTG up. We need more folks to join us from Florida and all over the SE. It's not that far away and hot that expensive.

Hell a bunch of us drove to South of The Border for a weekend just to eat fake Mexican food!

Not as of yet.

I'm planning on going, but my plans are hinged upon the budget of getting Cup up running & the budget for me & Val's 25th anniversary in December. Hoping all works for me. I really want to see Llona after the GTG.

Looking at routing. Poteau is 11oo miles from Orlando, Uses I- 10 part of the way, Will look for places to meet up on 10 with the Jax folks.

Green or Red Dave?

I was also thinking about doing I-10 to I-49 up through Louisiana. It's about 60 mile longer and googlemaps says it will take 25 minutes more to get there, but, it's got about 500 miles more interstate going that route and it's been my experience that you can make a lot more time on the interstates than the back road two lane roads. Which ever works for the majority of folks and where ever you can meet others along the journey.

Same with coming back. As long as there is an Econo-Lodge along the way we are Golden!
