Hey all. I'll be honest my knowledge of the Beetle is pretty poor. As you can see from my user name, bugs aren't my strong point. Here is my question though.
I recently put new plugs on my wifes 99 Beetle. I read on here, no matter how careful I am I may damage the wires and set a misfire code. Well you guys were right. P0302. I need to buy a set of wires but can someone tell me whats up with all the prices? I found a link on here, that doesn't work, but you all say like $38. I found this site.... http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/ipb/egermanparts/wizard.jsp?partner=ipb&clientid=egerman&baseurl=http://www.egermanparts.com/&cookieid=1O61AUQAH1O61AUQAG&year=1999&make=VW&model=BET--001&category=F&part=Ignition+Wire+Set

...that sells them for $48. Where I work at Autozone we can order a $68 dollar replacement set or a $128 Bosch set. And Advance Auto wants $150 for a set!!!! What gives? Is the cheap set the same as the the expensive?
Hopefully you all have some expierence in where to get these things. Thanks all!

Save yourself some money and buy them at http://www.newdimensions.comYou will have to call them at their 800 number as their website is down, but I remember paying around $40-$50 for a set of 8mm silicone plug wires (performance)over 3 years ago......also run some Bosch plats or put some new NGK's in it....will run like a champ. I'm not sure, but I remember http://www.ecstuning.comhad Bosch plugs for around $25-$30 , but no plug wires....:D

New Dimensions phone number is 408-980-1691.
They have fair prices, and if you get the right person, someone that knows what they are doing.

I bought OEM wires from www.ecstuning.com for $38 just a couple of months ago.

Don't buy Beetle parts from a FLAPS - there is a huge markup due to the low volume and limited suppliers.

Well actaully OEM would be fine for right now. This car needs so much right now, I basicly just want to get it like it should be. I guess I must be newer than I thought though, what exactly is a "FLAP"???? Thanks for the help though guys!

NP..glad to help...Actually your NB should come with NGK sparks as OEM...they should be fine for now. The wire un-install and install is kind of hairy the first time around...If you dont have a 12" flexible adapter for your socket wrench, I'd get one...it comes in handy to reach those inner plugs...
