I'm the girl with the bettle that won't start randomly in the heat. My dad's friend is a mechanic and even though he does not work on Volswagens he suggested that the speed sensor may be going bad and may be affected by the heat. Does anyone know where this would be located in a 2003 manual transmission??

You should keep your threads together. With so many posts, its hard to keep them all straight. I had to go find your old thread...

You also didn't mention that it was heat related, just that it wouldn't start. Maybe its something like your coolant temp sensor? Have you had the car scanned for codes?

being that the engine speed sensor is an inductive prox sensor and is mounted on a 200 degree + engine, i doubt it is being affected by the 100-110 degree outside temperature.
just a thought

Get your codes scanned at autozone....please tell us what they are....
