Will a automatic 2.0 starter work in a automatic tdi? My aunts starter went out and there is a starter at our salvage yard for a 2.0, are they compatible?

It will probably fit, but it may not have enough power to get the TDI started. I would try to get a TDI starter.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no as the TDI has a bigger starter and requires more cranking power.

Looking online at the Bosch starters the part number for a 2.0 is different from the TDI.

It is however the same as the 1.8T with 4spd automatic.
