Hey, for the folks hanging out for Six Shooter Sunday, any thought yet?

Last years some if the folks went to a local Casino, and some of us went up to Maggie Valley to the Wheels Through Time Museum and grabbed a late lunch.

So, if you have an idea, throw it up here and see who else is interested in joining.

Keeping a running list of ideas and supporting websites here:

Looks like Nabers is more then what it looks like from the outside. Quote: "This place looks old from the outside, but if you want a family style old-school meal, for dirt cheap, go here. The food was excellent."

Something to think about for the folks coming in earlier in the week.

The wife and I had lunch here last year, it was cool hanging on the river and watching the rafters and kayakers.

I really want to do a tour of the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad.
But they dont run on Sunday or Monday.
They do run on Friday though.
One of these years I will make it happen.

Ahhh, that's too bad. Would make a wicked photo op as well.

I'm with you as their is a Railroad museum at the tracks in town, and you guessed it, closed on Sunday's and Monday's as well. Always have wanted to go in and visit, one of these days...

I was just thinking...the last time I was in the Smoky Mountains was back in the summer of 1974, just before I was a sophomore in high school. We camped there with my uncle's family. It'll be interesting to see what's changed in 40 years.
Your in for a treat then, as I can't imagine it has changed drastically near Bryson City. Now up towards Maggie Valley and Pigeon Forge, those areas probably will be very different then your last visit.

Excited that your able to make the trip this year and that we will be able to meet in person after all these years on the boards

Is the Biltmore House open on Sundays? I know it's kinda a drive, but I have wanted to go there for some time. It's in Asheville NC.

Otherwise, I always make time for the road to nowhere and the casino was a lot of fun last time too.

I think the Biltmore is open every day. Its not super cheap, but its a huge house and piece of property. I know they often run deals that its cheaper to buy tickets in advance. We've been twice and still haven't seen everything. The house alone will take you several hours to go through. They also have a winery you can tour, farm, shops, trails everywhere, etc. Its definitely worth the trip, IMO. And in May the flowers should be blooming on the grounds.

Thank you Al, appreciate it. It is a great area, so wanted folks to get talking early about what they would like to see/do on Sunday. Always nice to be with a friend when exploring :)

BTW, check the first post of this thread for a running list of ideas.

I saw that the NC Arboretum is on the list. We've been and its a great place to visit. Should be awesome in May with everything blooming. Would be perfect if the weather cooperates. When we were there it was a week or two later in May and it was a great time.

If y'all end up doing something around Asheville, we may be able to stick around a bit. We will need to be home Sunday night, but Asheville puts us at 4 hours from home.

The Biltmore Inn might be a good trip for any TOD'r who are leaving Sunday, but driving by Asheville. Could be a nice stop on the way back home for a group of folks.

Also, any Golfers in the group???? Course is actually about 15min out of Bryson City. Would enjoy a round of golf in the Smokie Mountains myself, so let me know if your interested..

I'm excited, too! There are many here that I've talked to on the boards that I'll finally get to meet in person, and I'll definitely take you up on being educated in dash piece removal. My daughter's Beetle may be past the point of no return, but I'll be doing that to my 2010 someday, as a few minor scratches in that rubber coating are already showing.

Looks like by popular demand, there will be a group having dinner at Guayabitos Mexican restaurant in Bryson City on Sunday night. Drinks were great, don't remember how good the food was though

Dude! That place was great! The food was pretty decent IMO. And I didn't drink...or at least not much lol

I'm really leaning toward the Casino again. That was so much fun! And it's fairly close. Plus I came out pretty good at the blackjack table! :)
