So recently I did a thermostat change on my 99' NB 2.0 and when I turned it on it somehow found a way to leak coolant from underneath the middle of the car. Possibly some leftover from the procedure that could've collected somewhere? Possible leak? Could anyone explain this anomaly

The thermostat flange is made out of plastic and has an o-ring seal; which can be easily pinched or not installed correctly, to seal as it should. I recommend replacing the plastic coolant flange and getting a new seal; many times, the coolant flanges warp from heat. In that case; no matter how many times; you reinstall it or get a new seal; it will still leak. We have seen this; many, many, times on this site and a new coolant flange/seal, fixes the problem. There are many aftermarket plastic flanges out there but we have seen; the genuine vw ones, to be better quality and work the best, be leak free. Good luck with the repairs and let us know; how things turn out! Thanks! :)
