I have a 2003 Turbo s th eother day i was driving and the engine cut off and lost power to engine, people are telling me it could be a timing belt has this happened to other beetle owners

I don't think the engine cutting off is a sign of a bad timing belt. Have you checked the fuse box that sits on top of the battery? This can be a known culprit and the alternator cable that runs from it. I had it replaced on my beetle and I show the parts in the video. Hope this helps.

That can be a number of issues. If you have a CEL going off check that. If not may want to take it to a specialist or dealer get a proper diag.

The cost of maintaining and repairing a Volkswagen New Beetle Turbo from 1998 to 2005 is shown in the video below. I've had my 2005 Mk4 New Beetle Turbo for over 3 years and this is what it's cost me to keep it in top running condition.

You would save a lot of money by buying the parts online and doing the work yourself. front and rear brakes cost only about $100 for both front and rear, install yourself. control arms and ball joints cost only about $120 total in parts, install yourself.
