....beetle convertible with a 1.8t engine. Any advice, pro or con?

Suggest you take it to an auto mechanic and have them do a very basic inspection first. I bought mine from a dealer thinking that was safer than buying from a private party. Well this dealer even showed me an online clean Carfax, and turns out 2 days later, when I had her oil changed at an auto repair shop, the mechanic discovered his shop boys had cosmetically concealed major front end damage from a collision was discovered on my bug--they'd replaced the outer bumper skin and fresh paint etc. I'm hoping I can recover the costs of repairs or at least some--.

If it's a 2005 Auto, it has the Tiptronic. Not as problematic as earlier transmissions. Our 2005 1.8T was a great car.
