Hi everyone. I recently replaced the timing belt, water pump, and timing belt tensioner in my 04 convertible with the 2.0. I set the timing belt tensioner to the proper tension and it has now appeared to have backed itself off. What would cause this and what can I do to prevent it from happening again?

Sounds like your tensioner may be going if the marker is not staying lined up w the Y tab even after you tighten the tensioner mounting bolt. Its not supposed to be tightened that much either - only 15ft lbs, which should keep the tensioner mounted and the marker in place. I just posted a problem w my tensioner, which was replaced a little over 4 years ago by a shop (before I started doing things myself). In my case, I'm assuming the shop installed a cheap after market tensioner.
