Hi,

My timing belt guard shakes when the engine is on! See the video:

Is this normal? Does it hurt? I had my timing belt done this Jan, and I guess it starts shaking since then. Thanks!

Hmm, that looks like the serpentine belt tensioner. It looks fine to me, but I am not 100%. We'll see who else chimes in!

That is the serpentine belt tensioner in the center of the picture. It has a clockspring inside that holds a pulley against the serpentine belt to keep it tight. The pulley is made of plastic and is known to come to pieces sometimes. If the pulley is no longer round that would explain the pulsing of the tensioner. Here is the part:

Thanks, Red. I looked at some videos on youtube and began to understand what you said. Will check if the pulley is good recently!
