DSG trannies

Me and my hubby were discussing the Tiptronic and how it works, he believes there's a clutch in there and it acts like the ZF AS Tronic transmission where it's basically a computer controlled clutch-we run buses with these trans-and I have to admit, the Tiptronic does feel like the ZF.

After doing a little test, he says it's a clutch. I dunno...so what is it?
Computer controlled clutch or torque convertor?

Tiptronic is a standard automatic with a Sport mode and a manual shift mode that keeps the transmission in a mode that there is no freewheeling so you have engine braking.

Not sure what years the DSG as offered and what models?

Many people do not like this type of transmission in VW or other brands due to a high failure rate and astronomical expense to repair. Most people shy away from these transmission that have done research and know anything about cars.

If you are talking about your 2013, then yes, you have DSG. Tiptronic hasn't been offered in a number of years I believe.
