I just did a full suspension rebuild and found, most of the specialty tools, I needed, could be rented for free, from auto parts stores, like O'Reillys and Autozone. The tools you might consider purchasing; that are not too expensive, are the axle nut socket (Lisle) and the strut spreader socket. The rest are typical tools one would normally have to work on VW's or specialty that can be rented or purchased at most auto parts stores, if you want or need to.

Tools to rent: strut spring compressor, ball joint spreader, 02 sensor sockets to remove/tighten top nuts for front struts, etc.
