I've got the 2003 Cyber Green color concept model. It does have the 1.8t, and the trunk of the car has - had - a silver "Turbo" plastic piece affixed.
In my case the plastic fell off, leaving something - old glue? behind. Tough enough to last a trip through the car wash.

I believe the plastic piece is still around and if I find it, how might you suggest I reattach it to the hatch of the Beetle?
