I propose the URL for the new forums be: http://newbeetle.org/forums.

Currently this URL redirects to the old forums, but almost no one (besides me) uses it (everyone uses http://forums.newbeetle.org instead).

Here's why I think this should be the new URL:

1. Leaving the old URL in place for the old forums means links to those pages won't break.
2. Having the forums on the same subdomain as the home page allows me to do some things with cookies and stats that are a PITA on two different subdomains.

I suggest we, at some point, lock down the old forums and post a big-ass notice on them that links to the new forums.

Any objections?

I like the idea, but I don't want to rush the users at all.

I'd much rather have everything set up and then mention to the users about the update; maybe let them know it's happening soon; let them know it's next month or somethin', ... basically break the news and share some info like how we'll keep up the archives etc.... And let them get any questions out of the way before the impending change.

I also don't think it should be setup in public yet w/o locking things down so people can't see the moderator chit-chat. (duh; I guess that's a given.)

I'd like to grab a couple HOW-TO's from the old site and migrate those before the users as well. Maybe that's reaching a bit far, but if at all possible I'd like the world spinning before we set people on it, y'dig?

This will probably screw up all the how-to links I have, but probably can be easily edited once we are in action.

Pls let us know when they are live so I can change them.
Already thought of that. I'll just symlink /vb3 to /forums. You won't need to change anything.
