Hey Y'all, Does anybody know if the head valves get damaged if this timing chain tensioner fails? the one in the yellow circle in this picture. Mine is starting to make a small flopping or ticking noise at Idle only.

I have replaced one before; I don't see why it would, as long as it doesn't jump a tooth or have a catastrophic failure (chain fall off; valve get out of time etc.). You could do a compression/leak down test; to confirm but I think you will be fine. IF the valves were bent; you would know and the car, probably wouldn't start.

cam chain tensioner

Is it pretty easy to replace? what where your symptoms or noises you were having that made you decide to change that? yea having the valves bent is what I am trying to avoid beforehand.
