Hello Everyone!

I'm new to this forum since I just recently purchased myself an '02 NB tdi. I've done a lotta reading on here but this is my first posting.

I'm looking for a crawler style bra that will fit my '02 NB. I know a lotta you guys don't like bras, but I think it would look nice on my dark gray beetle, especially since the bumper is pretty scuffed up already. I went to purchase one from carbras.com and was notified that they have lost the pattern and that they are discontinuing the product:confused:. I know, doesn't make any sense to me either . I've already PM'ed crazy_mofo because I saw he had one he was trying to sell a couple of years ago. Please let me know if any of you guys have any crawlers you'd like to get rid of.

Thanks for everything, JS

Wow, I just got one from them earlier this year.:(

I'm trying to think if there are any others that are of a similar style. Perfect Fit bras are the best in my opinon though.

Did they say they didn't have ANY bras or just any crawler style bras? Because I used to have the half bra from them and it fit really well as well...but this time around I forgot to tell them I wanted the half bra and ended up with a crawler - I do like the crawler after all.

If Perfect Fit isn't an option...
Check out Colgan.
Colgan Custom Car Bra and Truck Bras

We got a T-Bra (crawler) for our Honda Element last year and it seems to be made well and has held up pretty good. Can't say about the fit on the beetle though. I know they custom make every bra, don't have stock - so there is a little wait unless you pay to expedite. From the looks of their site it only allows you to choose TurboS, but that should be the only option. I'd give them a call, when I did about the Element they were really friendly and worked with me when I was trying to get a rush order.

Thanks for the quick reply Antoine. I've been admiring your Marvin for some time now. You were actually my inspiration to use the T-style bra. So does Colgan make a T-style bra? I've looked at their website and never noticed one before. I'll have a look again now.

Jared

P.S. I just used your eyelid template to make some cutouts for my new beetle last weekend. Thanks!

Crawlers are still available from Perfect-Fit for the 2006-2010 NB's. The non-crawlers are available for the 1998-2005's. I'm not sure why they discontinued them - probably a "money" thing. Too bad because I personally like the crawler style better and it offers more protection. Oh well.....

Jared, try Randy at TVA - he might have a crawler sitting on a shelf somewhere.

I looked at Colgan and their website only lists bras for turbo s beetles.

I spoke to perfect fit on the phone today and the guy I talked to told me that they discontinued this particular bra because they "lost" the plans for the bra. He said it was a very popular bra but it would cost them too much to go back in to R&D to develop the bra again. I don't know why they can't just dissect an old one and use those pieces as a template. Just doesn't make sense to me.

As for TVA, I'm not familiar with them. Is there a website for them? Is there a number I can reach Randy at?

Thanks for all the help guys. This has been a very warm welcome.

TVA only appears to sell wolf and lebra bras. Have they sold perfect fits in the past? I'll give them a call in tomorrow or Monday and see if they have any. Thanks

i have 2 colgons for our cars and i love them ,im not a big fan of the crawlers or thongs as we called them for years ,,

but either way , ,they are worth their weight when it comes to protection , earlier this year while on the way to effinham for the midamerica show i was running in front of kathy and i didnt have herbs bra on kathy had homers on and a guy cut us off in a construction zone and pelted our cars with pea gravel , shattered both windshields and peppered herbies paint all over , but since kathy had homer covered up , he only suffered the winshield cracks ,,

Thanks - cool!

I agree with the "why can't they dissect one" theory.
The only part that is different from the half to the crawler was the hood piece, not that complicated.

Yeah, Colgan has the T-Bra...that's what they call it. Don't know about how it attaches for the lower portion and what the fitment is around the lights though.

I knew someone that had a Wolf that had fitment issues. I ride with mine on the car all the time so the Perfect Fit bra is what I like because there isn't any sagging at the headlight area. I don't think I would touch a LeBra, never seen anyone with a beetle that had one.

Good luck, tell us what you end up with.

I just tried Randy at TVA and they're closed for the weekend. I'll have to try on Monday.

I've looked at Colgan's website and they only list a bra available for the turbo s trim. I'm thinking they may just have it listed incorrectly since I know they make it for regular NB's. I see lots of T bras for other cars on their website but I can't find one for the beetle. I'll give them a call on Monday also.

I still like the perfect fit better though. I like the fact that you can see the emblem. If I can't find a pf crawler somewhere I may settle for just the regular perfect fit bra. Maybe if we start a petition on here they'll start making the crawler again.

My sister had the wolf "love bra" for years (The one with the peace signs and flowers). It's held out for a long time but I was never impressed with it's looks. It always looked and felt like cheap vinyl to me.

Long story short, I'm still hoping somebody on here has one stashed away somewhere that they want to get rid of.

Thanks again for all the replies guys. I'll have to post some pics of my new bug on here soon.

I talked to Colgan on the phone and they don't carry a t-bra for the beetle.

I tried TVA about 5 times today and nobody answers the phones.

Am I SOL?

UPDATE: Finally got Randy and he didn't have any perfect fits in stock. He said the "lost plans" story was BS and that they were going to stop manufacturing bras all together. Guess that means I am SOL :(

Hi, Good news everyone! Just to let everyone know, BUGSTUFF and I have been talking carbras.com over the phone for the last few weeks and they have now said that they are working on a replacement for the crawler style bra for our beetles. I just got off the phone with Ken over there and he told me that they would be ready to ship in 2-3 weeks!

Now that I have both options(regular style or crawler) of which bra I want to get, I'm counting on you guys to help me choose which one would look best. I've only seen two pictures of beetles with the crawler style bra(on their website) and they weren't the best. If any of you guys have pictures of your beetles with the crawler style or the regular style bras I would love to see them to help me out with this decision.

Thanks to all you guys for the help, Jared

Grest to hear.

You can probably find the half bra pictures of Marvin throughout my Marvin Photo gallery here on the org, but I added the crawler style when I got it replaced before Roswell this year.

Thank's Antoine, pretty much all half bras look alike. It's the crawler style I can't find many pictures of. That bra looks amazing on Marvin, not a wrinkle in sight!

My front bumper and hood are taking a real beating on the highway, but I think I will hold out a few more weeks to get that crawler style.

Good choice! I've always thought that the Perfect Fit bra lived up to its name. I had always run the half bra since 2weeks of owning my car because of rock chips from that first two weeks. When I got the crawler by mistake, I thought about it and decided to change styles and I really like it.

Quick update: I'm contacting carbras.com weekly by phone and every week they tell me to try again next week. They say they are having trouble recreating the plans. I don't know what's so difficult. Hopefully this Friday they will have finished and I can finally get a bra on my unprotected bug.

Crawler style bra

So... what happened? Bra or no bra? I have also been looking for the same bra now for 6 months. Everytime I get ready to give in and buy a different style bra, I decide to wait just a little longer, hoping someone will turn up with the crawler style. I haven't had any luck. Has anyone else?
