Hi everyone! I just purchased an 04 convertible from an auction. The top will not currently come down which is a pretty big bummer since I bought it to drive around town during the summer.

I saw where there’s ways to manually put it up but haven’t seen anything where you can manually put it down. It’s going to be garage kept always so I was hoping I could just manually put it down (and keep it down) for the summer and then worry about fixing the bigger issue in the winter.

So I guess my question to start is: Is there a way to manually put the top down?

I spent many hours today fitting a an ebay special window regulator assembly, multiple times. Old cable was chewed and the connector had broken. The cable is too long even after setting it to the taughtest it could get it. Didn't get the job finished will have to get an OEM regulator kit...

Have you tried the "reset" trick (remove positive and negative cables from battery, tap them together a few times, then reattach)? That's what billy suggested to me when my top stopped working, and it worked!

One indicator I found was that if you use the "all windows down" switch on the driver's door and they don't move, then the top won't go down either. A reset may work. Try it out and let us know!
