5x100 bolt pattern. You'll also want to pay attention to offset.

check tirerack.com for fitment and wheel options, they have a guide, that shows the wheels you choose on a new beetle body, to get a sense of what it looks like.

Another option, is get some of the alloy wheels; that vw sold or put on other Mark IV VW's of the era (Audi TT, Golf, Jetta, etc), would would fit fine.

Look at 5x100 wheels:

Also check the center bore (I think that’s what it’s called), I was looking into some newer Toyota Corolla wheels since they’re 5x100 but the center bore is smaller than VW’s so they wouldn’t fit.. just something to look into. I’d definitely test fit one wheel before you purchase any
