I have a 98 beetle and just finished fixing the blend door problem with foam blowing out of vents. I was following another thread of how to do this. I put the steering wheel back on and decided to test wipers and turn signals. Cut wipers on and they seem to want to go wrong direction. They want to go towards engine. I thought I put connector on backwards but they only go on one way. Any suggestions of what might be going on.

Do they settle in the right position?

To check, just remove the wiper arms, cycle the motor and let it settle, then reinstall the wiper arms in their proper settled position.

Bingo! Sometimes when things get disassembled switches get flipped and keys get turned on and the wipers were probably in the up position when disassembled. Then, when everything was put back together the wipers probably thought they needed to go down when they were actually down already but.... so just reset everything and I would be willing to bet a nickel that it works. :)
