Would a tune be necessary?

Hey all, hope this finds you well, I’ve recently installed a short ram intake and an aftermarket muffler and just had some questions regarding if I needed a tune or not. I’ve heard that putting a SR intake won’t do much for me if I don’t tune it, and I’ve heard it will without a tune. I’m generally believing that I would need a tune for it. Second, since the check engine light is on (low responding 02 sensor/p0411), I’ve read that disconnecting the battery for a while then reconnecting, allowing the MAF to recalibrate, thus “tuning” the car and adjusting to the new intake. Can anyone clear this up?

What engine do you have? Short rams don't really do much in general, even with a tune. Just a lot of noise. I was Stage 2 tuned on my GTI and still had the stock airbox. You won't need a tune for the intake though. What are all the codes you are getting? Disconnecting the battery may just clear the codes, but it won't really fix anything for the most part.

Running a 1.8t, I was thinking of reverting back to stock air box with a high performance k&n filter to see if there’s a difference. I’m just getting the p0411 code, i don’t expect a tune to fix it, I’m just wondering if it’ll help the MAF adjust to the intake, or if disconnecting the battery and reconnecting will also help the MAF adjust
The MAF shouldn't be an issue from the intake. That code is for the secondary air system: 16795/P0411/001041 - Ross-Tech Wiki

Right since there’s a secondary hose that would also connect to the air box, would reverting back fix that?
