Its the metal plate that goes under the car so rocks dont jump up and damage the underside of the car.

The model # is 5C3-825-237

Thx

Looks like a piece of plastic. My opinion of plastic shields is not very high. Useless junk. If it is metal it will be thin and the first road gator, brick, dead animal etc you hit and your oil pan will be history.

Here is a skid plate/shield/save your oil pan option.

I have one of these on all the VW’s in my family.

Often cheaper than the oem plastic or thin tin metal shield.

Unfortunately I don’t see one for a 2017, so you may be stuck with a thin metal/plastic dust cover.

Up to 2014

.

The chief complaint of these (ECS) is they are thin and do not hook to the underside in a secure substantial way but are rather attached like the thin oem plastic/metal dust cover and because of that don’t offer real protection. But they are heavier than the oem dust cover, and as such offer some measure of protection, certainly more than the oem plate.

Of course the dealer will have one, the least expensive route would be the junkyard. Double check but I think the ECS link above might fit your car.
