Bentley Manual

For every car I have owned I purchased a Factory Service Manual. From my reading here, it appears that the Bentley Manual is the preferred version. Is this correct? My car is a 2004 GLS Convertible. I need to replace the small cooling fan and the lower control arms. Would this manual give me the information to do the jobs? If not, which one should I buy? Are they available on CD or internet download? What is the fair price for one? My local shop told me that the front end of the car needed to be disassembled to replace the fan and quoted me over $600. I will have to do this anyway to install the tow plates to pull it behind my RV. I'm sure this is within my wheelhouse.

That is a really good read. My days of pulling engines and transmissions are behind me now. However the challenge of tracking down a fault code and replacing a component are still very satisfying for me. My last car was a Buick Reatta convertible, which was one of the first cars to use computer units to control many of the car's functions. It appears that I should start with the Bentley and maybe move up to a subscription type service if the need arises. Thank you billymade for making that so clear.
