This is so crazy! I made my Monsoon Cd player work with my NON-MONSOON NB!!! I bought the Monsoon Indash CD player by mistake without taking notice that it won't work on my NON-MONSOON factory stereo system. I was really bummed-out and was heading to ebay to sell the MONSOON Cd player and get some of my money back. Originally i heard i needed an AMP to get more power to the Cd player and thats why it would not work on my non-moonsoon system. I did not wanted to deal with amps and cables.
So, what i did after various failure attempts to get the cd player working (just to try) on my Non-Moonsoon car. I looked across the horizon and found my Handy VERY USEFULL VAG-COM.
What i did to make it work:
1. connected the car to VAG-COM
2. loged in to VAG-COM and went to the radio module
3. Cleared any fault codes
4. went to the re-code section of the radio
5. I entered the factory code with an additional "0" in front of it. My OEM code that came with the radio was: 0567 so i entered 00567
6. ran back to car and radio said: DIAGNOSTICS
7. Unplugged OBD II cable and....
8. Radio started working!! CD player too!!
I hope this helps to many of you that bought the MONSOON INDASH CD player and found out that it wont work with your NON-Moonsoon VW radio system. One sollution is ofcourse to buy the amplifier and all the hook-ups and get power from the battery and so forth. OR you can use VAG-COM and save money and get that CD player working ASAP!!
The sound quality is very good although this trick works for someone that likes med-reg volume as any further might have distortion because of the missing Amplifier(i think), but hey it's atleast something to not having a CD player at all. The quality is excellent and should not be a problem but for those sound connoisseur's out there get the AMP!
I like Rock Music and i played it kinda loud and sounded great! I love the "monsoon" message you get once you turn the stereo on. My factory CASSETTE
was so old and out of date. Cd is the way to go.
