How do you access the throttle body?

Hi all,

I have a 1999 2.0L AEG engine. I wanted to clean the throttle body but I can't seem to get a good grip on the pinch clamp to get the main hose off (red arrow in picture below). And yes I removed the connectors first (blue arrow). I tried all kinds of pliers, channel lock pliers, everything I got and just can't get a good position as there's not enough clearance to fit the plier in. Anyone have any tips, or even better maybe take a quick picture of how you position your plier to get at it? Thanks.

There actually is a special tool you can buy that really helps with those. It clicks and locks so it will hold the clamp open without you straining yourself to do it. They are called hose clamp pliers and you can get it at Harbor Frieght and Sears and the like.

Heck looks like the auto parts stores may even sell them: OEM/2 pcs. hose clamp pliers (25198) | Hose Clamp Pliers | AutoZone.com

We have 2 of them. I love having them around. Makes a lot of jobs much, much easier with those clamps.
