well after my poor black beetle was totalled i bought a 2003 platnium grey beetle with a monsoon system. What exactly is the monsoon system? and what are the speaker sizes/connections for them? Im just curious because i had an aftermarket stereo system in my black one that im hoping to transfer to this one but i dont know how the speakers pair up or the sizes for that matter. Also if i get my stereo installed from a certified professional would that void the warranty? any help is greatly appreciated. once i put this aftermarket stereo in if anyones intrested in buying the 6 disc cd changer that came with it, email me. Thanks

The doors and rears are the same size as the non-monsoons. The dash is where the speakers actually do a change. with the monsoon, there are no tweeters in the a-pillar, and there are a midrange and a tweeter under that grill in the dash.

If you put in an aftermarket stero, i dont really know how you wire it, i know you can still use the monsoon amp, but it has the crossovers built into it instead of built into the speakers, SO if you put a fill range speaker in your door, your not gonna get full-range.

But if you have a full system (like mine) then the only factory wires your gonna be using is the power wires behind the radio and that's it. tee hee.

I looked at your link, wow, i thought my wiring was bad when i forst dud my system on the back of my cloth seats. hehe. We did ALOT of the same things. Looks like you did more spl thean sql though, i tried to do sql but with some bling. It's really nice, but with how underpowered my subs are, theyre more like woofers than subs, which is good imho, just not for techno/rap (which a dont listen to that much)

And why are you so worried about hte warranty, if it's pre-owned it doesnt cover much of anything. (unless they changed it) And if your gonna do everything you did to that poor black bug, please dont, there are way too many lights and swithces imho. do you really need your floors to light up blue, red, or green? damn.

well that car was mostly for show as you saw but im not planing to do nearly as much to this car because i like it and its newer. Im not saying that the black one was bad but it was my "experimental" beetle. Now that i know what i need to do everything will be a nicer and less complicated. As for all those switches... lol yeah i get that alot, this time i only have 4 switches. As for the stereo, yeah its definatly spl, but much fun is it setting off car alarms from a distance. Now you said that the front door speakers wont have full range.. the way i had the black beetle wired was i used the wires going to the back speakers, then i tied behind the radio to the factory wires going to the front door speakers. then i just ran the back speakers individually to the amplifiers. what size are the mid/tweeters in those dash grills?

you could possibly tie your amps output into the monsoon wiring harness, and send a full-range signal to the door speakers if you splice into the monsoon amp output harness (note: unplug hte monsoon amp and dont use it). As i just stated in a differnt thread, this pdf file of the monsoon schematic will tell you exactly what wires you need to splice into to make your connections.

As for spekaer sizes in the dash, I dont know, i dont have monsoon. I beleive theyre something like 3.5" and 1", but dont quote me, because i'm just guessing.

You are correct about the size of the dash speakers. However it doesn't really matter. The dash speakers are molded into the dash, it would take a lot of work to fit a new set in.

I have the monsoon set up as well.

Although I haven't installed mine yet, I am going to install component speakers. I am going to put the tweeters in the a pillar, leaving the ones molded in the dash there, but unplugged.

Haven't quite decided how to wire it yet but I think I am going to run all new wire and leave the factory wiring alone.
