Removing Headlight - it's stuck

I feel bad about asking this, because it's been asked a million times. I did a search, but wasn't able to find anything helpful.

First, I have a 2001.5 1.8t Beetle and I'm trying to replace the passenger side headlight. I've been following the How-To (http://www.newbeetle.org/forums/showthread.php?t=171)

I have the lever pushed up as far as it'll go and I'm sure (fairly sure) that it's released from the headlight housing.

After the lever was pushed up the housing moved forward about 1/2"-3/4" - just enough for me to get my fingers behind the lens.

I've WD-40ed it up but it's not budging. The biggest difference between what I'm seeing under the hood and what the How-To shows is that I have the washer fluid filler tube and overflow in the way. I'm only able to get 3 fingers on the back of the housing to push it out.

I've tried to pull it out from the front, but that's a no-go, too.

Am I missing something. Am I giving up too early or what?

I had the same issue with the passenger side headlight. Knowing not to force the lever, which would break it, I just goobered the heck out of the assembly with WD40....let it sit....goober it up more. After about 30-40 minutes it finally loosened up all the grit and crap that was helping hold the assembly in place. Just keep working the front part of the assembly with your fingers....be very gentle if you try and occasionally work the lever and it should loosen up. It was frustrating for sure!
