Slammed this week for driving a "Chick Car"

Geez,

I'm trying to reduce green house gas emission, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and save a few bucks on gas. I work at a school and got slammed this week from some of the students and faculty who are starting to see my little beetle now instead of the mercedes parked outside.

All the girls are like laughing at me and saying I'm driving a chick car. One of the teachers even said my "sex appeal" has dropped 75%. The girl who sits next to me says she has a hard time picturing me in the beetle now, although she thinks it's really cute.

Personally the car makes me feel fun and outgoing. Especially in the summer when I take it out to biking and hiking trails. So I feel kinda wierd when I wear my suit in it. It just doesn't fit. Shorts, sandles and a t-shirt are more like it.

Sorry, I just had to vent a little to my peers. Thanks for listening.

:)

On a side note, most of the guys at work have a new found respect for the beetle now after me taking them for a ride. One guy even commented this weekend "holy crap! Now I know why you like this...it really moves!"
When someone gets into my car for the first time they usually say "I didn't realize how big it is" or "this is the first time that i have actually been inside one" or even better, "Is the engine still in the trunk?" i love that one.

"At least you know I'm not trying to compensate for anything."
That's just how I look at it.
Then again, when I see a guy driving a huge flashy truck IN the city, with no evidence of tools, construction materials, or farming supplies ever gracing the flatbed - I tend to think:

My friends laugh at me for wanting a New Beetle. Living near the home of the Big three, you see so many Ford, GM, and Chrysler cars. But, even in a distance (i'm good at this) you can spot a Vw, mostly the New Beetle a mile away! I love the NB, it is an awesome little car. I still have to prove my friend wrong, he says a VW Beetle can't do a burnout, boy will he be wrong (BTW He drives a Ford T-Bird 90's model)
