Well the NEW version is *supposed* to be more of a sports-car, similarly powered like the newer GTI's and whatnot.

So, it'll supposedly look , well, meaner (awesome!) and be a lot faster

I'm a bit hesitant to jump on the age-old bandwagen at this point.

 

I hear ya. This question is popping up just as much as "hey have you seen the jet beetle" question and threads back in the old org days.

 

So if it's faster and sportier, wouldn't it just be a TT or a GTI? The New New Beetles will have no soul!

If you get a chance, check out the June 2010 issue of Automobile. They have a sneak preview of 131 cars you'll want to drive. On page 74 they have a write up regarding the Beetle. The newly redesigned Beetle will be out late 2011 and there is a photograph of the car there as well....at first I liked it, but as I look at it further....they've removed the mystic of the original idea. The photo is not of something that has been photo shopped...but of the actual Beetle. VW is aiming this car to be more for the "masculine crowd." Not my words, but theirs. Looks more like a baby Porsche to me. They "could" have done some restyling, but left the original shape. Just my opinion.

I feel like a broken record.. Every image released so far of the "New New Beetle" are computer generated and none of them have originated from VW. These magazines everyone seems to be seeing "spy shots" in are the automotive equivalent of the National Enquirer. They make big bucks to make up stories out of basically nowhere.

 

I'm just happy to know the beetle isnt completly dead and I knew a lot of u would be too so I figured id let u know they arent killing it off.

 

I heard they teamed up with suburu and motor is going in the rear!!! I heard it looks like a roadster more then a beetle.. if im not mistaken they are calling it the new beetle II . i think i saw it in the VW line up when I was working at VW
