Easy Peasy. I used the Hidden Hitch brand.

 

I just put a Curt hitch on my 2001 Beetle, it was not too hard, just had to drill holes in the spare tire area for the mounting bolts, and trim a little of the heat shielding around the muffler. I believe it is rated for gross trailer weight of 2000 lbs, and max 200 lbs tongue weight.

I recommend a HELPER for the install, I did it myself by balancing it on a jack to hold it up, but that was challenging. !!!!

 

Thanks for the response. My Beetle is automatic. Does that make a difference?

 

This is what Heidi Moves around, but she is a 5 speed and has an electric brake controller.

I see no fitment for for that vehicle on Hidden Hitch website. Awaiting a reply from Amazon regarding the Curt.

I know there is something as I have seen a 2012-2019 Beetle pulling a trailer. Perhaps custom built hitch.

I was just pointing out that the recent posts were about his/her MK4 beetle which is why I linked to eTrailer for a 2001. Yes, the OP was asking about a 2014, but that post was from 3 years ago.
