So I bought a 2000 2.0L Beetle. When I test drove it, it was in limp mode throwing a speed sensor code. When I came back with my trailer to get it the next day the windows wouldn't roll up or down and no life trying to start it. Dash lights, instruments, fans, etc., all work fine. When I turn the key I hear the fuel pump prime, and then the fuel pump runs again when turning the key to crank, but no starter, no clicking, no relay clicks. BTW, putting the key in the door and turning and holding it at lock raises all the windows, so regulators work. I still bought it at a further discount (figured worse case it would be a spares donor for my '03 1.8t if it turned out to be a complete basket case).
So far I replaced the ignition electrical switch and relay #3 to no avail. I have 12V at relay #11 pin 2, but no signal to relay #11 pin 6 when I turn the ignition key to cranking. I also have no voltage showing at any pins on relay #3. Can't find any fuses at fault.
Any suggestions as to what to try next?
