Coolant Mix Ratio

Hello-
I'm doing the timing belt/water pump maintenance this weekend, and I'm considering using a coolant mix that is approximately 30% G12/70% distilled water. It will be cheaper and also more efficient at heat transfer. I live in FL so I'm not too worried about anything freezing, and I'm guessing that the recommended ratio is 50/50 mostly to prevent freezing.
Any reason why I shouldn't do this?

From what I have read, 50/50, 60/40, 70/30, the mix is relative to the expansion cap psi rating. On average, most VW commentary is a 60/40 mix; i.e. 60% water, 40% G12.

Normal 50/50 should be fine.
