ive had state farm ever since i've had to have my own policy and have always been pleased. The one big claim I had, I requested that they use OEM glass for the back windshield. I went to a State Farm authorized shop and they said they had to use whichever was more cost effective.

Turns out the OEM glass was only a few dollars more, so they went ahead and ordered it.

When my stereo was stolen they upgraded my stereo replacement because a) the first one they sent was broken, and b) I had to wait for the broken one to be replaced.

yay to state farm!

I hate to burst a lot of bubbles out there, but State Farm did use non OEM parts as part of their claim process, until they lost a $1bil multi state class action lawsuit in Illinois. Recently that verdict was overturned by the Ill Supreme Court for legal issues involving the structure of the initial lawsuit. Many carriers make an attempt to use non OEM parts, if reasonable to do so, as they also understand the fit problems some of these parts create. In Calif, insurance companies must use new parts as part of the repair process.....only with the customer's permission can used/salvaged parts be used.....something I have heard does occur in other states, Florida being the one I was apprised of. If a non OEM part can be used, most insurance carriers will guarantee that part for as long as you own your car. Some non OEM parts are actually made by the same companies that sell to the manufacturers, while some are just cheap imitations....just depends on the source the carrier or body shop uses.

Let me just tell you how much State Farm SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! Those stupid service first shops all need to go to hell! This is the second time I have gotten the big screw job at the service first shops.

I haven't had Snappy in over a month! If State Farm would stop being cheap and cough up the money for NEW vitale car parts, I would have my car by now. Who in their right mind puts a remanufactured steering rack in a car!?!?!? The freakin junk yard even told them good luck getting it to work because most of the time the rack won't fit in a different car. Well guess what! The rack was junk but they didn't know they until they put my car back together and took it for a test drive. So now they have to order a brand new rack, HELLO, you should have done that in the first place.

Insurance peeps suck, I would like to kick them all!

RAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Why Matilda Still IS NOT Home:mad:

Well...contrary to what I've posted in the past, I'm still waiting. The paint issues were solved, but now I've been informed that the parts that were ordered by Progressive, as much non-OEM as possible....surprise..surprise...are not fitting on Matilda. So now, whatI've been told will happen, is that the body shop, WHO HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH THESE PARTS SINCE MONDAY (1/9/06), will have to complete the build, part problems and all, and then it'll be up to me to "decide" (which I have already done) that the repairs are unsatisfactory. After that, Progressive will HAVE to abide by my wishes and then re-order all of the parts that were non-OEM, and replace them with the Real Deal VW parts.

Estimated time this will take....about another 3-4 weeks.

I could use a little karma here...
Let me just say Pergresive sucks! They will always go with whats cheep! That's all they care about. I worked at a body shop for a little bit and then someone hit me that had pergresive. They suck! You may pay less but thats cause they don't care for your car when it needs to get fixed. I am just saying!

That just totally made my day. :D I was getting ready to call up 21st Century and ask what their deal would be. I guess that's one perk of living in this ridiculously expensive state.

I actually work for a body shop and we refuse to use Progressive estimates because they're HORRIBLE! They cut prices, they want all used or after market parts. I couldn't believe how badly they handle things. They refuse to pay what shops write so the insured or claimant of Progressive has to pay the remaining bill out of pocket.

Get rid of them ASAP, State Farm, GEICO, eSurance, AllState, Liberty/Montgomery Mutual - ALL better than Progressive.
