The vw new beetle parts; can be totally different or have just a slight difference, compared to other 1.8T VW/Audi cars.

I would like to do all the failure prone ones. I currently have the one on the side of the head, with the coolant temp sensor in it cracked and leaking. Would like to go with the aluminum one if possible.

 

Also what’s bolted to the engine just behind the coolant flange? It also looks to be leaking

 

So far, no one has reproduced the coolant flange off the head of the 1.8t for the new beetle in metal (billet ir cast). That being said, you could probably use the golf version and add extra length of hose to make it work, possibly modify it to add the missing connectors or add more, plus a "t" connector to connect to the single outlet.

We have discussed having this part made in the past and i contacted USP Motorsports, WhanAB to no avail and gruvenparts was open to making a billet/tig weleded aluminum version but it required 20 prepaid orders @ almost $150 apiece:

For other plastic cooling parts; these are available and are the same for the new beetle 1.8T:

1. thermostat cooling flange (check) 034 Motorsports, Eurowise, ECS Tuning, WhanAB and many more cheap ones on ebay. (Works on 1.8T and 2.0L)

2. "y" pipe (check) 42DD and gruvenparts

3. cooling temp sensor cooling flange (not yet reproduced; specifically for the new beetle 1.8T) but WhanAB makes one for the 2.0L, plus a vendor ebay sells them as well.

4. heater core connectors: replacement billet or cast aluminum fittings.

So, there are some parts out there that work or some that could be made to work with add on hose and a t fitting.

At $150 for a metal flange, I'll just stay with the plastic type($10) the last one lasted 10 yrs and I don't think there was nothing wrong with it but the O-ring gasket started leaking.

 

Yea sorry, wasn’t paying attention to the two ports off the bottom. I think I’ll just see if I can get a Y adapter. Are the bottom ports the same size at least? Looks like 5/8 maybe, I’ll have to go look again, so I’m thinking a 5/8 T or Y and just connect those ports into one. Just don’t want to keep buying plastic junk when I can spend the money once and never worry about it. Thanks for all the info. I will probably be asking a lot haha.

 

Also looks like the piece directly behind the coolant flange is cracked. Looks like it’s held on my 2 Allen screws. Any idea what this is called so I can grab a new one? Thanks

 

It’s the “combo valve” had to do some serious digging for that one

Lately, the cost of the cast aluminum copies of the plastic parts; have really come down, hopefully they will make a 1.8T VW New Beetle version for the coolant flange, that comes off the head.

$20-$40 (could be made to work with extra hose adapter/hoses, etc):

The problem with the plastic flanges; is not just the o-ring, cracked plastic but many times, they warp, which causes leaks as well.
